Parks Commission Seeks Input on Dredging Iverson Beach

The McDill Lake District wants to dredge the Iverson Park beach area to create a silt trap for sand flowing downstream toward McDill Pond. The Park Board seeks input from park users about the proposed project & its effect on the swimming area & the park.

The McDill Lake District feels that creating a silt trap will protect McDill Pond from further shallowing caused by the sand flowing down the Plover River.

They propose to begin dredging the sand in the Iverson beach area after October 14, 2019. The sand would be stockpiled in the beach area to be removed before May 1, 2020.

Below is a map showing the area and depths that they would like to dredge. According to the proposal, the swimming area depth would become much deeper.

The Park Board is trying to gather input from park users as to their feelings about such a project and the impact it would have on the park.  Submit comments to Parks Director Tom Schrader.
