The Public Works Department is comprised of two divisions, Engineering and Streets. Engineering, located in the lower level of the City/County building, develops and reviews construction plans for streets, sidewalks, and sewer and water utilities, surveys and marks construction areas, designs blueprints/plans, conducts construction inspections, determines special assessments, calculates construction costs, writes specifications for construction contracts and equipment purchases, and bids contracts. The Streets
division, located in the city garage at 100 6th Avenue, is responsible for the maintenance of the city's infrastructure,
city vehicle and equipment maintenance, and collection of garbage and recycling.
