What will happen with my mail delivery during the construction?
We do not anticipate any interruption with your mail delivery. If it is determined that the Post Office cannot deliver your mail, temporary mail boxes will be set up at a central location with your address attached. You will be notified by mail should this be necessary.

What will I need to do to have my garbage and recyclables picked up?
Once construction is scheduled to begin, you will be notified by mail to place your garbage and/or recyclables out near the street on your usual pickup day by 7:00 a.m. in clear plastic bags, do NOT use your carts. Clear plastic bags are needed so the collection crews can easily distinguish between garbage and recyclables after distributing the bags to a central location for pick-up. Notifications by mail will also be sent when construction is complete enough for you to resume using your carts.

Will my driveway be closed during construction?
Every reasonable effort will be made to keep your driveway accessible. Access between the removal of the pavement and curb and the installation of the sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water main, placing the gravel, installing the curb, gutter and sidewalk and asphalt paving will be provided, as practicable. However, at times access will be impossible.

Where will I be able to park during construction?
While your driveway is closed, you may NOT park in the immediate project area along Sixth Avenue; however, the Police Department will relax the overnight parking restrictions on adjacent streets in your neighborhood during the construction project.

Will I be assessed for any of the work being done?
You will NOT be assessed for any street work; however, you will be special assessed for the replacement of any clay or non-standard sanitary, storm sewer lateral or water service you may have. A non-standard water service is defined as a water service less than 2-inches in diameter in the street, constructed of galvanized materials, or has no service manhole. Properties that are determined to be in need of a storm sewer lateral that do not currently have one may also be assessed for the new installation. Special assessment notices with associated costs will be mailed to property owners by the City Clerk’s Office in April. Assessment payment options are available to pay within 30-days of receiving your bill, or in 5 or 10 annual installments which will be included with your property tax bill. Interest rates on the 5 or 10 year options are 2.25% and 4.00% respectively. No other work will be special assessed.

What should I do if I want to replace my old sanitary lateral or water service between the house and the sidewalk?
This is the perfect time to schedule the replacement of one or both of your services; However, this work must be done by a private contractor or licensed plumber and a permit from the City Plumbing Inspector is required. If you can coordinate this work during our construction project you may be able to save hundreds of dollars by not having to pay for the removal and replacement of the sidewalk and curb when the connection at the street is made. The curb and sidewalk is being removed and replaced by the city as part of this project. Your contractor or plumber should contact the Stevens Point Water and Wastewater Department at 715-345-5260 to coordinate this work.

Isadore St. Reconstruction Project to Begin Monday, July 9
Crews will begin work on Isadore St. at the intersection with Portage, working north to Fourth. Work will then continue north towards Maria. Isadore will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project, until late October, weather permitting.
Division St. & North Point Dr. Intersection Closed June 7 - Aug. 30
American Asphalt closed the Division St. (Business 51) and North Point Dr. intersection on Thursday, June 7. Both ramps from I-39 to Division St. are closed. The closure is expected to last until August 30, 2018. Read More
