EMS and EMS-Related Subjects

The Stevens Point Fire Department operates the Ambulance Service for all areas of Portage County and responded to 3,527 calls in 2010.

Everyone in the Department is cross-trained in Fire Suppression and Emergency Medical Services - to at least the level of Emergency Medical Technician with automatic defibrillator certification.

The Department has been an EMS forerunner for many years, being one of the first in the State to offer Emergency Medical Technicians, and later implementing Intermediate EMTs.
