The Assessor’s Office provides for fair and equitable property assessments and accurate and timely property information for all properties in the City of Stevens Point.
To accomplish its mission, the Assessor's Office uses methods in accordance with the Wisconsin Property Assessment Manual, Wisconsin State Statutes Chapter 70
, and professionally accepted appraisal practices.
2017 City-wide Revaluation
The City of Stevens Point will perform a complete city-wide revaluation for the 2017 assessment year. The work for the revaluation began in 2014 and should be completed in the fall of 2017.
A revaluation is a procedure in which assessed values of all properties are updated to more accurately reflect current market value. The last time a revaluation occurred in the City of Stevens Point was in 2003.
Revaluing all property at market value assures that the tax burden is distributed equitably and uniformly. A revaluation includes an on-site review to update interior and exterior data, listing and measuring of all buildings.
Please also notice that the Assessor has certain statutory authority to enter land as described in state law (sec. 943.13 and 943.15, Wis. Stats.). The ability to enter land is subject to several qualifications and limitations, as described within the foregoing statutes. Copies of the applicable statutes can be obtained at public depositories throughout the State of Wisconsin, and from the Wisconsin State Legislature website.
