1. Annual report from Marshall & Ilsley
Trust Company.
Robert F. Penn, Trust Officer, Marshall & Ilsley Trust Company, reports that there was $8,395
in income, $813 in administrative expense, with a net income of $7,582. $4,500 was expended for program costs,
leaving a balance of $3,082 in unexpended resources. It is estimated that about $6,500 in net income next year,
and together with unexpended resources, gives the committee about $9,582 for programs and expenditures for the
coming year.
Mayor Wescott moved, Klesmith seconded, to accept the annual report from Marshall & Ilsley Trust Company.
Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.
2. Review of vitamin usage for the year.
Clerk Zdroik distributed the annual report, and stated that the families participating in the vitamin program slightly
increased from last year. The non-chewable multi-vitamin for older children is still a popular choice compared
to the individual vitamins.
Betty Skierka asked that the provisions of Mr. Smongeski’s will be reviewed as to where the vitamins should be
purchased from. She recalls the will specifically stated that vitamins should be purchased from natural health
source. Faye Tetzloff, Community Health Nursing Supervisor, Health and Human Services concurs with Ms. Skierka.
3. Review of sealant program for the year.
The expenditures in this program slightly decreased for this reporting period. A total of fourteen children benefitted
from the program.
Anne Klesmith voiced her concern as to the lack of needs assessment on the children that participates in the sealant
program like what is being done for vision.
Ms. Tetzloff noted that toothbrushes are being distributed to the first and second grade students by the school
nurses and to any other children that comes for health check examination.
4. Review of eyeglasses payments.
The amount spent on eyeglasses is higher this reporting period compared to last year. This may be attributed to
the increased cost of supplies and services. We had twenty-three children served by this program for this reporting
period compared to fifteen children served last year.
5. Funding for 1999-2000 programs.
Jerry Bohren moved, Mayor Wescott seconded, to approve the funding for the 1999-2000 programs.
Clerk Zdroik informed the committee that she intends to get the word out again on the programs available to aid
local children. She plans to promote the Smongeski Health Fund in the Stevens Point area public and parochial schools,
dentist and optometrist offices and the area churches.
Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.
