2. Review of Capital Improvements.

Mayor Wescott informed the council the purpose of the meeting is to provide information gathered by city staff which came to us in a variety of ways, through aldermanic requests, through projects the council has committed us to the state and federal governments, from staff suggestions, and from the directors and Comptroller/Treasurer.

There are about 50 capital improvement projects proposed starting in 2002. The alderpersons are being asked to prioritize the projects by May 1, 2001. Once that is done, a meeting will be held again to discuss the projects the way they are ranked and decide which projects should be done and when.

The Mayor stated there will be no action taken at this special common council meeting. This meeting is for informational purpose only.

Public Works Director Van Alstine reviewed the projects and Water and Sewage Director Disher reviewed the projects involving the Water and Sewer Department.

C/T Schlice voiced his concern about the possible cuts in shared revenue, expenditure restraint program and transportation aids. Cuts from the state government will have a major impact on the
project requests. The Comptroller-Treasurer said the city is in good financial condition and will be able to handle minimal cuts in these programs without having a major impact on the levy.

The list of project requests, copy attached, was distributed by C/T Schlice after the meeting.
