PERSONNEL COMMITTEE
Monday, May 14, 2001 - 6:50 P.M.
City Water Department - 300 Bliss Avenue


Present: Chairman Rackow, Alderpersons Sevenich, Filipiak, Seiser, Moore

Also Present: Mayor Wescott, City Attorney Molepske, C/T Schlice, Clerk Zdroik, Directors Disher, Gardner, Schrader, Van Alstine; Alderpersons Walther, Sowieja, Barr, Molski, Nealis, Phillips; Mayoral Assistant Marciniak, Personnel Specialist Jakusz, Police Captain Daubert, Paul Chronis (Journal), Gene Kemmeter (Portage County Gazette), Scott Krueger (WIZD)

Chairman Rackow introduced and welcomed the new members of the Personnel Committee, Alderpersons Filipiak and Moore.

1. Request for out of state travel, Fleet Maintenance Supervisor - Streets Department.

This request is from the Streets Department’s Fleet Maintenance Supervisor Schefelbein. He is requesting permission to travel to Hayward, California, for final inspection of the two new City Transit buses prior to delivery.

The funds for this out of state travel are available in the Transit Department budget.

Ald. Seiser moved, Ald. Moore seconded, to approve the request for out of state travel for the Street Department’s Fleet Maintenance Supervisor on August 2 and 3, 2001, to Hayward, California, to do the final inspection of the two new City Transit buses prior to delivery.

Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.

2. Request for out of state travel, Arts Coordinator - Parks Department.

This request is from the Stevens Point Arts Council to have the Park Department’s Arts Coordinator travel to Northampton, Massachusetts, on June 14 - 16, 2001, for the 22nd Annual Summer Program in Arts Management. The Arts Coordinator’s attendance to this Summer Program will help enhance and develop the program.

Parks Director Schrader stated that funds are available from the carry-over of the 2000 Room Tax money.

Ald. Sevenich moved, Ald. Moore seconded, to approve the out of state travel for the Parks Department’s Arts Coordinator to Northampton, Massachusetts, on June 14 - 16, 2001.

Ald. Seiser stated this is a good idea and feels it is an appropriate use of the Room Tax money.

Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.

3. Adjournment - 6:56 P.M.
