Personnel Committee Meeting Minutes
Monday, May 10, 2004 - 7:25 P.M.

City Water Department - 300 Bliss Avenue

Present: Chairman Molski, Alderpersons Markham, Moore, Stroik, Barber

Also Present: Mayor Wescott, Comptroller-Treasurer Schlice, City Attorney Molepske, Directors Halverson, Gardner, Schrader, Euclide; Alderpersons Walther, Rackow, Sevenich, Wiza; Police Captain Dowling, Fire Chief Barnes, Mayoral Assistant Gebert, Mike Phillips, Construction/GIS Manager Lemke, Personnel Specialist Jakusz

Index of these Minutes:

1. Request to refill vacancy (Administrative Services Manager)/reorganization at Water Department.
2. Request for additional Bus Operator positions at Transit Department.
3. Adjourn into closed session
(approximately 7:05 p.m.) pursuant to Wisconsin Statute 19.85(1)(e) for:
a. Update on bargaining.
b. Discussion regarding potential layoffs.

4. Adjournment.

1. Request to refill vacancy (Administrative Services Manager)/reorganization at Water Department.

Ald. Stroik moved, Ald. Markham seconded to approve the request to refill the vacancy of Administrative Services Manager/reorganization at the Water Department.

Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.

2. Request for additional Bus Operator positions at Transit Department.

Personnel Specialist Jakusz explained that this request is a result of the UWSP U-Pass Program. Funding for these positions is through the University.

Ald. Stroik asked Transit Manager Lemke how many hours each of the part-time Bus Operator positions will be. Transit Manager Lemke indicated the Operators will have approximately 28 to 30 hours each week.

Ald. Markham moved, Ald. Moore Seconded to approve the addition of four (4) additional part-time Bus Operators in the Transit Department contingent upon continued funding through the UWSP U-Pass Program.

Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.

3. Adjourn into closed session (approximately 7:30 p.m.) pursuant to Wisconsin State Statue 19.85(1)(e) for:

a. Update on bargaining.
b. Discussion regarding potential layoffs

Ald. Moore moved, Ald. Markham seconded, to adjourn into closed session.

Roll Call: Ayes: Chairman Molski, Ald. Moore, Stroik, Markham, Barber.
Nays: None. Motion Carried.

4. Adjournment - 7:50 P.M.
