3. Approval of Minutes -
September 14, 2004
Commissioner Taylor moved, seconded by Commissioner Pazdernik, to approve the minutes of the September 14, 2004
meeting.
Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.
4. Confirmation of Bills
Commissioner Meyer moved, seconded by Commissioner Taylor, to accept the confirmation of the September 2004 bills.
Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.
5. Donation - Police Department
Commissioner Taylor moved, seconded by Commissioner Meyer, to approve a $100.00 donation from Maybelle Erickson.
Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.
6. Police Chief's Report
Chief Morris reported:
Commissioner Taylor moved, seconded by Commissioner
Pazdernik, to approve the Police Chief's report for September, 2004.
Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.
7. Acceptance of a 50% grant
from the Department of Natural Resources for wild land firefighting equipment
Commissioner Meyer moved, seconded by Commissioner Taylor, to approve a grant for $1,807.70 from the Department
of Natural Resources for wild land firefighting equipment.
Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.
8. Fire Chief's Report
Chief Barnes reported:
A meeting was held last week to discuss EMS services to the citizens of Stevens Point and surrounding communities.
In attendance at the meeting were Mayor Wescott, Chief Barnes, Commissioner Meyer and Comptroller Treasurer John
Schlice.
Chief Barnes asked the Commission for approval to hire a consultant to study the effectiveness of our current system
and to provide recommendations for improvement. The Commission supports this idea and asked Chief Barnes to bring
any suggestions to the November meeting for approval by the Commission.
The Commission reviewed a grievance letter dated September 20, 2004 from President Tracy Aldrich regarding Article
24 which deals with bargaining issues. Commissioner Taylor moved, seconded by Commissioner Meyer, to deny the grievance
and to support a letter being sent to President Aldrich informing the Union of the denial. Ayes, all; nays, none.
Motion carried.
Commissioner Pazdernik moved, seconded by Commissioner Meyer, to approve the Fire Chief's report for September,
2004.
Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion Carried.
9. Adjourn into EXECUTIVE
SESSION (approximately 5:15 p.m.) pursuant to Wis. Stats. ss. 19.85 (1) (b), (c), (e) and (f) for an update on
police and fire union bargaining negotiations.
Commissioner Taylor moved, seconded by Commissioner Pazdernik, to adjourn into executive session.
Roll call: Ayes: Commissioners Judy, Meyer, Pazdernik and Taylor
Nays: None. Motion carried.
10. Adjournment
The meeting adjourned at 5:55 p.m.
