Special City Council Meeting
November 21, 2005, 6:30P.M.
Council Chambers, County-City Building
Mayor Gary W. Wescott, presiding

Roll Call: Present: Ald. Sevenich, Walther, Hanson, Wiza, Robinson, Barr, Trzebiatowski, Molski, Stroik, Barber, Moore

2. Finance Committee minutes of budget hearing held on November 1, 2005.

Ald. Barr moved, Ald. Moore seconded, approval of the Finance Committee minutes of the budget hearing held on November 1, 2005.

Roll Call: Ayes all.
Nays none. Motion carried.

3. Public hearing on the general local municipal budget for 2006.

As no one appeared to testify, the Mayor declared the public hearing closed.

4. Resolution adopting the budget for the City of Stevens Point for the year 2006.

Ald. Molski moved, Ald. Stroik seconded, adoption of the Resolution adopting the budget for the City of Stevens Point for the year 2006.

Roll Call: Ayes all.
Nays none. Motion carried.

5. Resolution appropriating necessary funds for the City of Stevens Point for 2006 and levying the tax rate for the year 2005.

Ald. Moore moved, Ald. Barr seconded, adoption of the Resolution appropriating necessary funds for the City of Stevens Point for 2006 and levying the tax rate for the year 2005.

Roll Call: Ayes all.
Nays none. Motion carried

6. Resolution providing for writing special assessments and special charges into the tax roll for 2005.

C/T Schlice stated the overall assessed tax rate decreased 11% per $1,000 value. However, the lottery tax credit decreased by $8.84. So if you did not have any changes on your assessed value in the last year or this year, on an average home valued at $100,000, your tax bill will decrease by $1.39 in total.

C/T Schlice continued, that if people are wondering what their tax bill is going to be, it will be comparable to last year's bill. He asked that people not call his office for information on their bill because his office needs to enter all the information into the system. When the information becomes available, it will be placed on the City's website at stevenspoint.com.

He concluded saying that the bills will be mailed around December 15th along with payment options and other pertinent information. The overall tax rate will be $23.36 per $1,000 assessed value.

Ald. Stroik moved, Ald. Walther seconded, adoption of the Resolution providing for writing special assessments and special charges into the tax roll for 2005.

Roll Call: Ayes all.
Nays none. Motion carried.
