2. PowerPoint presentation of
Phase II of Strategic Planning Process: results of community and business survey
In mid May approximately 17,000 surveys were mailed to city of Stevens Point residences and Stevens Point businesses.
A total of 1,847 surveys were received and 449 surveys were used for the analysis.
High points of the presentation are shown on the attached executive summary of the survey results.
Mayor Wescott suggested Gary Itzkowicz present the survey results to the Common Council at either their July or
August Council meeting.

Pazdernik, to adjourn into executive session.

(approximately 5:15 p.m.) for possible action on Item Number 3(a).
Commissioner Schleihs moved, seconded by Commissioner Taylor, to reconvene into open session.

Nays: None. Motion carried.
Commissioner Meyer moved, seconded by Commissioner Taylor, to approve the hiring of Timothy Obremski as a probationary
police officer on the Stevens Point Police Department.

6. Approval of Minutes
Commissioner Meyer moved, seconded by Commissioner Schleihs, to approve the minutes of the May 10, 2005 meeting.
Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.
7. Confirmation of Bills
Commissioner Meyer moved, seconded by Commissioner Schleihs, to accept the confirmation of the May 2005 bills.
Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.
8. Discussion, with possible
action, extending the probationary period of firefighter/paramedic J.B. Moody
Due to a military activation J.B. Moody is not available to serve his full 12 month probationary period within
his first 12 months of employment. Since his return to duty date is uncertain at this time Chief Barnes was not
able to advise the Commission of a date that would complete his 12 month probationary period. Union President Aldrich
acknowledged the necessity for the probationary period extension.
Commissioner Meyer moved, seconded by Commissioner Pazdernik, to approve extending the probationary period of firefighter/paramedic
J.B. Moody and creating a new completion date once his return to duty date is known.
Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.
9. Discussion, with possible
action, supporting a city resolution adopting the National Incident Management System (NIMS)
Commissioner Meyer moved, seconded by Commissioner Schleihs, to support a city resolution adopting the National
Incident Management System (NIMS) as presented.
Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.
10. Discussion, with possible
action, supporting the city to continue its Fire Mutual Aid Agreement with other Portage County Departments
Commissioner Meyer moved, seconded by Commissioner Taylor, to approve the Fire Service Mutual Aid Agreement, Portage
County, Wisconsin as presented.
Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.
11. Fire Chief's Report
Chief Barnes reported:

Schleihs, to approve the Fire Chief's report for May 2005.
Ayes, all; nays, none. Motion carried.
12. Police Chief's Report
