1. Approval of the minutes from the June 16, 2005 Transportation Commission
meeting.
Elbert Rackow moved to approve the minutes from
the June 16,
2005 Transportation Commission meeting.
Commissioner Woehr seconded the motion. Ayes all; Nays none; Motion carried.
2. Manager's Report:
- June ridership and revenue report. Fixed route ridership increased by 2.02% over June 2004. Point Plus ridership dropped 11.35%. Total system revenue for June 2005 was $6,127.75.
- Staff update. The Transit department continues to have one part time position open. The Personnel Specialist will be advertising for the open position.
- Sign project update. The sign project is nearly complete with just the East Side/Business/Industrial Park route left to complete. The project has gone smoothly and Rapids Sign has done a very good job, and have been very cooperative to work with.
- Update of Try Transit Week. Daily Ridership during Try Transit Week increased substantially. A great deal of effort was made in promoting the week. Manager Lemke was a guest on 10-10 talk radio, signs were placed on the front of the buses advertising Try Transit Week, daycares were notified, a banner was placed at the shelter downtown, and the local newspapers ran articles inviting people to Try Transit.
Transit Commissioner Kanter moved to accept the
Manager's report and place it on file. Commissioner Slowinski seconded the motion. Ayes all; Nays none; Motion
carried
3. Review and approve list
of topics to be discussed on transit video.
Manager Lemke submitted a draft of proposed video content topics. Commissioners recommended the addition of information on:
- Website address.
- Air conditioning on buses.
- Advertising possibilities.
- Free ride programs (Boys and Girls clubs etc.)
- Brief description of U-Pass program.
It was recommended that the time of the video be
restricted to 10- 15 minutes.
A motion was made to authorize the Transit Manager to pursue the creation of a Transit Video and in doing so work
with the Mayor and John Quirk.
Ayes all; Nays none; Motion Carried
4. Next meeting date.
August 3, 2005 at 4:30 p.m.
5. Adjourn.
