I. ADMINISTRATION
1. Approval of minutes of
the July 11, 2005 meeting.
Motion made by Dave Eckholm, seconded by John Wandrey to approve the minutes of the July 11, 2005
Water & Sewage Commission meeting.
Ayes all. Nays none. Motion carried.
II. ACCOUNTING
2. Consideration of claims
for the Water and Sewage Treatment Utilities.
Eugene Tubbs presented the statement of claims for the Water Utility for July. The balance on hand after the July
11, 2005 meeting was $1,477,592.79; the bank deposits since the July 11, 2005 meeting is $710,416.51. Checks issued
since the July 11, 2005 meeting numbered 39508 through 39582 were in the amount of $443,602.54. Checks numbered
39583 through 39606 for $50,059.97 were presented for action on August 9, 2005. The net balance on hand August
9, 2005 was $1,694,328.79.
Motion made by Dave Eckholm, seconded John Wandrey to approve the water utility claims for the month of July 2005
as audited and read.
Ayes all. Nays none. Motion carried.
Eugene Tubbs also presented the statement of claims for the Sewage Treatment Utility for July. The balance on hand
after the July 11, 2005 meeting was $1,301,322.30; the bank deposits since the July 11, 2005 meetings were $327,858.44.
Checks issued since the July 11, 2005 meeting numbered 24442 through 24481 were in the amount of $126,395.58. Checks
numbered 24482 through 24495 for $24,212.57 were presented for action on August 9, 2005. The net balance on hand
August 9, 2005 was $1,478,572.59.
Motion made by John Wandrey, seconded by Dave Eckholm to approve the sewage utility claims for the month of July
2005 as audited and read.
Ayes all. Nays none. Motion carried.
III. WATER OPERATIONS
3. Report on the Wellfield
Chemical Building.
Six bids were received for the chemical room project. The lowest of the six was 13% over budget. After talking
with the consultant and Paul Adamski, Kim has decided to re-bid the project due to the fact the bids came in so
high.
Kim stated the re-bid will offer the opportunity to choose between two alternate completion dates, along with an
alternate for the electrical portion of the contract.
This item will be brought back next month.
4. Consideration of quote
for security door in the Administration Building.
Motion made by Dave Eckholm, seconded by John Wandrey to approve the quote from E.B. Sommers, Inc. for a security
door in the Administration Building in the amount of $6,173.00.
Ayes all. Nays none. Motion carried.
5. Report on water distribution
operations.
The report was distributed.
A total of 50 valves were operated in July 2005.
A total of 29 business properties have been checked for backflow preventors in July 2005 for a total of 49 in 2005.
Kim stated the South Side Business Project is still being worked on. The main portion will be done this week. The
Pintail Trail and Windy Drive projects were both paid for by private developers.
6. Report on water supply
operation.
Our pumpage in July was 293,851,000 gallons, a decrease of 9,370,000 gallons of water from July 2004.
IV. SEWAGE TREATMENT OPERATIONS
7. Report on sewage treatment
operations.
B.O.D. (3.98 ppm), Phosphorus (1.137 ppm) and Suspended Solid (4.22 ppm), limits were met for the month of July
2005.
Kim congratulated Eric and staff for getting a rating of "5" this year on the Annual Wastewater Treatment
Plant Inspection. This is the highest rating allowed by the EPA system.
Next month's meeting will be held on Monday, September 12, 2005 starting at 12:00 p.m
