Report from City Treasurer
3.
Adopt values, funding divisions, proposal form
4.
Discussion and adopt Ranking & Rating
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. with
all members present.
2. Tom indicated that John Schlice would not be able to be with us to provide a detailed history
and present financial position, but would be with us at our Feb. 28 meeting. Tom provided some historical material
for John, and we discussed the present amount of money unused from the 2000-2005 recommendations.
3. We adopted the values for decision making that we the committee has used in the past. After
some discussion, we decided to also continue to use the funding divisions we used the last period (65% to projects;
15% for deferred maintenance of previously funded projects; 10% for special events and new initiatives; 10% to
arts/arts endowment).
We made some final adjustments to the proposal application form that made it more consistent with our values which
will make scoring much easier.
We reconfirmed the dates for our future meetings, and decided on the timing of the press release announcing the
process. We asked Tom to announce the opportunity for grant proposals around the holidays and set Feb.16, 2007
as the deadline. Tom indicated that once the proposals were all in, he would have copies made and provide each
committee member with a packet so they could read the proposals before our February 28 meeting.
4. We discussed the way we would rate and/or rank the projects. We looked at the various ways previous
committees had done this in the past and decided that the way the committee did it in 2000 would be a good way
to proceed. Tom indicated he would provide a scoring sheet at the February 28 meeting, but that we could still
make some changes then if we wanted at add or delete things.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:56 p.m.
Next meeting: Wednesday, February 28, 7 p.m. at the Rec Center.
