Plan Commission Minutes
Lois Feldman moved, seconded by Jerry Moore, to recommend approval of the minutes of the March 5, 2007 meeting.
Ayes all; Nays none; Motion carried.
2. Purchase All or a Portion
of 701 Mason Street
Mary Ann Laszewski expressed concern that Tony's Landscaping cannot meet the conditions required. He may not be
aware of the problems of the site. She favored the city purchasing the entire parcel.
Chm. Wescott asked Attorney Molepske if he felt it appropriate for Mary Ann Laszewski to discuss the conditions
on the Conditional Use Permit.
Att. Molepske responded the only item on the agenda is purchase of the property and discussion should be limited
to that item.
Ald. Trzebiatowski felt the city should purchase the entire property.
Jerry Moore moved, seconded by Fred Steffen, to recommend to the Common Council that the city purchase a portion
or all of 701 Mason Street.
Ayes all; Nays none; Motion carried.
3. Annexation - 1728 Brilowski
Road; Zoning Classification - "R-1" Suburban Single Family
Chm. Wescott reviewed the staff report and stated staff recommends approval.
Lois Feldman moved, seconded by Ann Shannon, to recommend approval of the annexation of 1728 Brilowski Road and
to establish "R-1" Suburban Single Family as the permanent zoning. Ayes all; Nays none; Motion carried.
4. Sale of City-Owned Land
- Rear of 1000 Main Street
Chm. Wescott reviewed the staff report.
John Gardner noted that discussion has arisen regarding the elimination of the existing green space at the end
of the parking row. The area is in poor condition. There is not much pedestrian traffic along Third Ct. The question
is a balance between maximizing parking and maintaining some separation between the right of way and parking spaces.
He recommends that if the screening is removed and Third Ct. is extended through the Mall as envisioned in the
Downtown Directional Study, that the screening be replaced at that time.
Tim Schertz stated he would be willing to maintain some green space along the rear building facade. If Third Ct.
was extended, he would be willing to replace the screening along Third Ct. He does not allow his tenants to park
in the downtown retail spaces anywhere except in their designated spaces.
Reid Rocheleau stated the city should not sell any property in the area given the uncertainty of the future of
the Mall.
Jerry Moore moved, seconded by Fred Steffen, to sell the city-owned land behind 1000 Main St. as shown on the attached
map. Ayes all; Nays none; Motion carried.
