1. Mission Statement: Discussion and possible adoption of Mission Statement

There was discussion about creating a mission statement for the task force. Anna explained there is a hope that a "vision" for Stevens Point as an eco-municipality will hopefully come out of the community kick off event, but our group could certainly have a more specific mission statement. Amy stated this would help each of the group members explain the goals of the task force. The task force spent brainstormed some initial words and phrases that could be used for the mission statement. Anna will try to get Mark Hilliker to attend the next task force meeting to facilitate the mission statement discussion, and possible adoption.

2. Subcommittees: Review, and approval of, confirmed subcommittee members.

Discussion of any remaining vacancies. Adoption of Task Force representatives to each subcommittee, and outline of responsibilities.

The task force reviewed the proposed members of the eight subcommittees, and gave approval to move forward. Each subcommittee will have a task force liaison that will call the first subcommittee meeting together. There will be recognized voting members, but anyone will be welcome as a citizen member to provide input. The hope is that this subcommittee will meet for one short meeting prior to the Community Kick-Off event. Here are the liaisons:

1. Development & Land Use Anna Haines
2. Water & Wastewater Lynn Markham
3. Parks & Tourism Tom Barrett
4. Civic Involvement Amy Heart
5. Food Carie Winn
6. Green Building & Energy Jackson Case
7. Transportation Amy Heart
8. Waste & Recycling Gene Numsen

3. Kick-off Meeting: Discussion and possible announcement of kick-off meeting dates and location. Discussion of involvement by Center for Land Use Education, and format of the program.

Community Kick-Off Event will be Tuesday, October 30 at 6 p.m. It will be held at Ben Franklin. The idea of eco-municipality will be introduced, maybe with a speaker from another eco-municipality. Then the public will be able to provide feedback in these subcommittee areas (and sign up to be citizen members).

4. League of Women Voters Eco-Municipality Forum (September 25): Discussion of involvement by, and representation of, this Task Force.

Lynn Markham talked about the forum, and how it will be, in a sense, a smaller version of the community kick-off event. All task force members are invited.

5. Meeting Schedule: Development of consistent meeting schedule of this committee, with the topics scheduled for each month.

The Task Force will be meeting the third Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m. at the City Water Department.

6. Adjourn.
