Ald. Stroik directed attention to Director Gardner's email that was attached. He summarized the email saying that the bid received was significantly higher than those of the past and Director Gardner wished to reject the bid that had been submitted and that he be allowed to continue seeking other bids.

Ald. Trzebiatowski asked if this was a one time request.

C/T Schlice stated this was for this year only. Currently, it is 34 cents a foot and the proposal that we received is triple that amount. There are others that are interested and Director Gardner is asking that you reject the bid and allow him to go out and seek other bids.

Ald. Stroik moved, Ald. Slowinski seconded, to approve the request to reject the current proposal and grant the authority to the Inspection Department to seek new proposals and issue a contract for the 07-08 year.

Ald. Heart asked what was different this year that it took so long to get interest in the project.

C/T Schlice said that for some reason they were not getting their proposals in.

Ald. Brooks asked if this noticing of the project is done yearly.

C/T Schlice said that every year we get quotes, not bids, but proposals.
