2. Proposed Ordinance Amendment
- Polling place change in District #3 - move from the Fire Station, 1701 Franklin Street, to the Dreyfus University
Center, 1015 Reserve Street.
Clerk Moe stated that in the past these requests were taken directly to Council but with this situation he felt
it should be brought before a committee so that there is more opportunity for public input. Clerk Moe then discussed
the many conditions that must be met in order for a location to be eligible to be a polling place. He also discussed
concerns brought to his attention about moving the polling place onto campus.
Ald. Hanson believes the University would be a very good place for a polling location. He noted that at the last
Presidential election there was not enough room at the current location. He believes this is the best alternative.
Tony Patton, 3917 Jordan Lane, asked about what precautions are going to be made regarding political banners, buttons,
etc. near this new location.
Clerk Moe stated that no political signs, buttons or political activity are allowed in the polling place area.
He said that the poll workers along with help from the University would enforce the laws.
Ald. Stroik asked what activities will be taken to inform District #3 residents of the move.
Clerk Moe stated that notices will be mailed along with other media activities to make sure people are aware of
the move.
Ald. Slowinski moved, Ald. Brooks seconded, approval of the proposed Ordinance amendment - changing the polling
place change in District #3 from the Fire Station, 1701 Franklin Street, to the Dreyfus University Center, 1015
Reserve Street. Ayes, all; nays, none; motion carried.
3. Recommendation of the
monthly Inspection Report:
A. Construction Starts.
B. Violations.
Ald. Stroik moved, Ald. Heart seconded, to accept
the monthly Inspection Report and place it on file. Ayes, all; nays, none; motion carried.
Adjourned at 6:12 p.m.
