1. Parking Meter Report (Attachments):
A. Meter/Permit Collection
B. Permits
It has been noted that Alderperson Moore would like
to see parking spaces that are unrented and going unused opened up for more parking downtown.
C/T Schlice moved, seconded by Alderperson Stroik to accept the June 2007 Parking Meter Report and placed on file.
Ayes all; nays none; motion carried.
2. Consideration/Action of
Bid for Playground Equipment Installation Project for Morton, Yulga and Village Green Parks:
Team Reil Inc. out of Union, IL was the only bidder of $75,000.00 on this project. Jeff Hild said they came in
within the budget. Director Schrader recommended awarding this project to them due to the fact that it's similar
to what was done with K.A.S.H. Playground and based on their criteria and equipment.
Alderperson Stroik moved, seconded by Alderperson Heart to accept the Playground Equipment Installation Project
#09-07 to be awarded to Team Reil Inc. in the amount of $75,000.00.
Ayes all; nays none; motion carried.
3. Traffic Study #TS-07-07;
Consideration/Action for No Parking on west side of West Whitney from the intersection of West Cornell to a point
175' south and on the south side of West Cornell from the intersection with West Whitney to a point 120' west.
(Attachments):
Alderperson Stroik mentioned how the traffic by K.A.S.H. Playground has definitely increased since the playground
has opened and when you couple that with the baseball games and disc golfers, that corner specifically creates
a danger for pedestrians and traffic to get around. This is a good start and possibly some additional recommendations
may be made in the future around this area.
Alderperson Stroik moved, seconded by Alderperson Myers to approve the Traffic Study #TS-07-07 for No Parking on
the west side of West Whitney from the intersection of West Cornell to a point 175 feet south and on the south
side of West Cornell from the intersection with West Whitney to a point 120 feet west.
Ayes all; nays none; motion carried.
4. Traffic Study #TS-07-08;
Consideration/Action for adding stop signs southbound on Lindbergh at Della Street and northbound on Lindbergh
at Della Street. (Attachment):
Jeff Hild, Police Department, and staff have recommended for approval due to the high traffic count at this intersection.
Brian Brooks mentioned that this is a very good proposal not only due to the traffic, but also pedestrians due
to Koziczkowski Park being close by and this would help slow traffic down.
Alderperson Heart moved, seconded by Alderperson Myers to approve the Traffic Study #TS-07-08 for adding stop signs
south and northbound on Lindbergh at Della Street.
Ayes all; nays none; motion carried.
5. Consideration/Action for
the upgrade of the Fire Station #2 Project, Option F. (Attachments):
David Oberbeck mentioned this option was the best and most efficient way of adding on to the existing building
while staying within budget. This addition would blend into the existing building and help the existing energy
efficiency problems. This is about a 2,750 square foot addition of space that is much needed for storage, staff,
and vehicles. This addition and design accomplishes most of the desired outcomes at a cost of about $759,000.00
over the cost of doing only the repairs. Fire Chief Barnes and Mayor Halverson recommended approval for this project.
C/T Schlice moved, seconded by Mayor Halverson to approve the upgrade of Fire Station #2 Project, Option F.
Ayes all; nays none; motion carried.
6. Director's Report. (Attachments):
