Transportation Committee
August 9, 2007

Commissioners in attendance: Chairman Hans Walther, Jeremy Slowinski, Bob Woehr, Fred Hopfensperger, Elbert Rackow, Amy Heart, Joe Kanter

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairman Hans Walther.

1. Approval of the minutes from the July 12, 2007 Transportation Commission meeting.

Elbert Rackow moved to approve the minutes from the July 12, 2007 Transportation Commission meeting. Bob Woehr seconded. Ayes all; Nays none; Motion carried.

2. Shelter project.

Manager Lemke presented draft shelter specifications to the Commission.

Bob Woehr made a motion to authorize the Transit Manager to move forward with the shelter specifications with the understanding that the RFP (Request for Proposal) for the project will be released within the next 30 days unless major changes are needed. Elbert Rackow seconded. Ayes all; Nays none; Motion carried.

3. Trolley project.

The federal contract for 80% funding of the Trolley has been received, signed by the Mayor and returned to the state for the final signature of the WISDOT Administrator. Once the Administrator signs the contract Manager Lemke will arrange for the arrival of the Trolley. Manager Lemke is scheduled to meet with the Downtown Business Association on August 14th at 7:30 a.m. to determine if the DBA plans to contribute to the local share of the trolley, and if so what the contribution will be.

4. July ridership/revenue report.

The adult, senior, disabled and youth ridership increased 417 rides over 2006. UWSP rides were down by 5 rides. Point Plus rides were up 81 rides. The overall increased ridership was 4.04%. Revenue generated in July was $5,721.

Elbert Rackow moved to approve the July ridership and revenue report and place it on file. Jeremy Slowinski seconded. Ayes all; Nays none; Motion carried.

5. Next meeting date.

The Commission will meet at the Transit facility at 102 6th Ave. for the September meeting. The meeting will be on September 6, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. Manager Lemke will host the meeting on either a fixed route bus or on "Millie" the Trolley Bus if the City has taken ownership.
