Association of Downtown Businesses - Harvest Fest on October 3 & 4, 2008 - Close the Square from Third Street to Water Street from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on both days and Main Street from Strongs Avenue to Water Street from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4.
3. Recommendation of the Monthly Inspection Report: A. Construction Starts. B. Violations.

1. Recommendation on License List:

1.B pulled from consideration until August meeting at the request of the Police Dept.

1A. New and Renewal Operators Licenses: Motion: by Ald. Trzebiatowski , Second : Ald. Slowinski to approve the 16 new applicants and 142 renewal licenses .

Ayes: All Nays: none Motion Carried.

1C. Request for Class B beer and Class C Wine License for "the other side" : Motion : Ald. Brooks, Second: Ald. Trzebiatowski to approve the Class B Beer and Class C Wine license for Kruthoff " the other side" at 1152 Main St.

Ayes: All Nays: none Motion Carried

1D. Special Class B Retailers License; Portage County Democratic Party, St. Stanislaus Holy Name Society, Association of Downtown Businesses: Capt. Dowling stated he talked to Sara Robinson about the need for contractual officers at the Downtown events and that there is an outstanding bill from last years corn on the curb that will need to be paid. Sara Robinson will get clarification by the Council meeting as to why the bill has not been paid. (note : C/T received email from Sara on July 15th assuring that the bill will be paid). Motion: Ald. Stroik , Second : Ald. Slowinski to approve the special Class B licenses with the condition that corn on the curb have last year's bill paid in full prior to the event.

1E. Change of Agent; Ultra Mart Foods and Cooper Oil Company: Motion by: Ald. Slowinski, Second, Ald. Trzebiatowski to approve the change of agents.

Ayes: All Nays: none Motion Carried

1F. Requests for Extension of Premises, Archie's Cocktail Lounge and Partners Pub: Capt. Dowling stated he talked to Archie Hanson and that he may not need the extension but like to have it available. Capt. Dowling stated that both events will need fencing and contractual officers. Motion: Ald. Trzebiatowski, Second: Ald. Stroik to approve the extension of premises for Archie's and Partners Pub requiring single fencing and contractual officers. Capt. Dowling stated that the Partners event is well managed and that they have not had any problems.

Ayes: All Nays: none Motion Carried

2. Request to hold events and Street Closings, Corn on the Curb and Harvest Fest

The Police Dept. has not problems with the street closings. Motion: Ald. Brooks, Second: Ald. Slowinski to approve the street closings for the events - Corn on the Curb , August 2, 2008 from noon to 11:00 p.m. and Harvest Fest , October 3rd and 4th. with two contractual officers.

Ayes: All Nays: none Motion Carried

3. Recommendation of the Monthly Inspection Report

Motion by Ald. Slowinski, Second: Ald. Trzebiatowski to approve the monthly inspection report and place it on file. Ald. Trzebiatowski asked how this compares to last year. Director Gardner said the numbers on the report indicate that construction is down both here and around the State, it is just not a local issue. Both residential and commercial permits are down.

Ayes: All Nays: none Motion Carried
