Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps New floodplain maps have been prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These maps are not based on new information and do not expand the floodplain boundaries. These maps are more detailed versions of existing maps. Property owners and lenders will be able to use these more detailed maps to more accurately define whether their property is within the floodplain limits. A change was made on the west side of the Wisconsin River. The change now maps the “floodway” of the Rocky Run bypass. Prior to this, the area was mapped as floodplain and did not include the floodway. A public hearing will be held on the new maps prior to their adoption. Citizens may review the maps and make comments to the Community Development Department by phone, 346-1567, or E-mail. The maps are very large files. We recommend you view the Map Index to determine which of the seven maps you are interested in looking at, then download the appropriate map. Right-click on the link for the map you want to view and chose "Save Target As" from the menu. When you are done downloading the map to your PC, open it using Adobe Acrobat or the Free Acrobat Reader.
