Historic Preservation ordinances are in effect in the downtown and the Clark Street Historic District to ensure new construction and remodeling projects are consistent with the historic character of the existing buildings.

The Community Development Authority administers a downtown loan program targeted at improving downtown properties. Loans are made to property owners for a 10 year term, 0% interest years 1-5, 3% interest years 6-10.
