| Curfew Violations in Portage County Stevens Point recently changed their curfew ordinance to more closely mirror Portage County and Plover's curfew ordinances, and Police Officers and Deputies in Portage County will be paying more attention to under age children who are out past their curfew time. Children under the age of 17 cannot be out away from home without a parent or adult supervision between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. in these municipalities. |

| Parents of children violating the curfew ordinance
can be cited if they knowingly permit or, by inefficient control, allow their under-age child to violate the curfew
ordinance. Children violating the Curfew ordinance can receive a fine of $50, and the parent or guardian could receive a citation and fine between $113.80 and $249. The ordinances generally have exceptions which would allow under age children to work or participate in an organized activity. Stevens Point Police, Village of Plover Police, and the Portage County Sheriff's Department will be actively looking for curfew violators throughout the summer. Portage County law enforcement officers ask parents to ensure that their children are home at night during the designated curfew hours. If you have any questions on the curfew ordinance in your area, please contact your local law enforcement agency. |
