2008 Red Cross Swimming Lessons
Level I through Level VI Registration

The Stevens Point Parks and Recreation Department follows the American Red Cross Water Safety Instruction Levels in our "Learn to Swim Program." When a Child becomes proficient at all required skills of a particular level, he/she will then be passed to the next swimming level.

General Swimming Lesson Information: These are group lessons only. Higher swimming levels may make it necessary to individualize. There are ten 40 minutes lessons per session. Swimmers provide own suit and towels. Showers must be taken before swimming.

Arrival Time: Participants should arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before and leave within 15 minutes after the conclusion of their lesson. Changing rooms are not staffed with attendants during swim lessons.

Spectators: Parents are welcome to attend the first and last day of their child's lessons. We encourage parents to leave the pool facility during your child's lesson. This will ensure a positive instructional learning atmosphere/environment without distractions. One of the fundamental instructional goals is to provide your child with a fun and positive learning opportunity with their peers and the swimming lesson instructor. Please feel free to discuss your child's progress before and after class with the instructor.

Parents Please Note:

• Canceled lessons due to inclement weather will be made up on Fridays/Saturdays.*
• Pool is 3 feet deep at its shallowest point.
• Our student to teacher ratio is 8-10 children per 1 instructor.
• Pool is comfortably heated to 80 degrees or higher (weather permitting)

• It is very helpful when registering your child that you know or provide us with a copy of his/her most recent swimming level passed.
