The Federal Communication Commission recently approved a ruling, MB 05-311, which is designed to streamline the process by which phone companies can begin delivering TV services in cities. Although this might sound good on the surface, the ruling could actually have a dramatic negative effect on the funding for Stevens Point's Community Television channel, and other channels like it across the United States. On December 11, 2006, nine days before the FCC's vote on MB 05-311, the City of Stevens Point's Community Television Coordinator contacted the offices of the five FCC Commissioners to express the city's concerns about the proposed ruling.
