Portage County Transportation

Portage County provides transportation to residents in Portage County through four different programs – Nutrition, Grocery Shopping, Taxi Service and Volunteer Driver. 

Nutrition Program provides bus rides to senior dining sites in Stevens Point, Plover, Amherst, and Junction City. Riders are picked up at their door and returned home after lunch. The ride is free. Donations are welcome.

Grocery Shopping Program provides bus rides to grocery stores throughout Portage County. Service is available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:15 AM – 2:15 PM.

Taxi Service Program provides rides that start and end in Stevens Point or Plover for medical, nutrition, or other essential business. The cost is $3.50 for a one-way trip.

Volunteer Driver Program provides rides that start or end in Portage County for medical, nutrition, or other essential business. The ride is free. Donations are welcome.

Eligibility

Individuals meeting any of the following two criteria will be determined Portage County Transportation eligible upon review of a completed application regarding the applicant’s functional ability: 

  1. Individual is age 60 or older. 
  2. Individual has a disability.
  1. Youth Ride Central Transportation Buses FREE

    Central Transportation's youth fare program is now free for anyone 17 years or younger throughout the year.
