We would like to cordially invite you to apply to the 2021 Fall Emergency Services Citizens Academy. The Stevens Point Police Department, in cooperation with Portage County Sheriff’s Office, Plover Police Department, and the Stevens Point Fire Department, hosts a 12-week Citizens Academy. The Academy is a great opportunity for citizens of our community to learn about and experience things that our law enforcement officers and firefighters do on a daily basis.
The Academy consists of basic law enforcement and fire/rescue overviews that include tours and explanations of our services. The participants in the academy will have the opportunity to participate in firearms training, Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) driving, arrest tactics, and many more aspects of the police/fire occupations.
We invite you to contact Firefighter / Paramedic Jason Karpinski with the Stevens Point Fire Department, via email if you are interested in attending this academy.
The Academy runs from September 9, 2021 to November 11, 2021 and meets every Thursday night from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, and on an occasional Saturday. The last day is a graduation, a time for reflection on the Academy and all of the networking that has taken place over the course of the program.
The Academy is limited to 20 participants, and all applicants are subject to a background and criminal history check to ensure the integrity of the program. Past graduates have mentioned how much they learned and got to do in this Academy, having fun and meeting new people, while getting a new perspective on the law enforcement and firefighting professions.
Please contact Firefighter /Paramedic Jason Karpinski by August 6, 2021. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
All CDC guidelines will be followed during our classes.
When the Academy opens for applications, we advertise on our Facebook page – so like us to stay up to date!
