The City of Stevens Point helps promote bees & other pollinators where it can. The Forestry Dept. planted a rain garden at Mead Park, at the NE corner of W. Clark & W. Whitney St., about 3 years ago, and flowering plants are starting to take root there.
Most of the flowers are in full bloom right now, and the bees are loving it.
The City is also partnering with the Aldo Leopold Audubon Society, with grant funding coming from American Transmission Company, for the development of a prairie filled with many different wild flowers specifically geared towards pollinators. This pollinator garden, currently being prepared for planting, will be located under the ATC transmission lines in Koziczkowski Park.
