The City Clerk’s office is looking for persons who are interested in serving as poll workers for the 2020-2021 election cycle. Applicants must be a resident of Portage County with no felony convictions, and are subject to a criminal background check.

Election officials receive initial training and get training updates prior to every election. Although there are elections in some states next Tuesday, November 5, 2019, Wisconsin’s next elections are not scheduled until February 18, 2020.
Duties include registering voters, checking voter identification, issuing ballots, assisting voters with the voting process, and recording write-in votes and election results.
Election officials are paid $11.00 per hour for both training and Election Day duties. Officials can also work at the City’s early voting sites prior to general elections and other selected elections (Presidential Primary). There are both half-day and full-day shifts on election days.
