The 83rd Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Convention and the Wisconsin Affiliate Leadership Training Seminar previously scheduled to be held in Stevens Point in October have been canceled due to increasing COVID-19 cases throughout the state.
The PFFW represents over 4,000 professional fire fighters and EMS personnel from across the State of Wisconsin.
"Our Local IAFF members were motivated to host this convention to show our colleagues throughout the state all that Stevens Point and Portage County have to offer and why we choose to call this place home," said Glynn Novak, President of the Stevens Point Fire Fighters and a fire fighter with the Stevens Point Fire Department. "However, due to the rapid increase number of COVID-19 cases in Portage County and throughout the state, the PFFW and Local 484 have decided to cancel the convention. The health and safety of our community, the employees at the Holiday Inn and Convention Center, and the entire PFFW membership is our utmost concern. We would hate for a major outbreak of COVID during our event.”
Local 484 will still be raffling a 2020 Can Am 4x4 UTV side by side. Tickets prices are located on their website and Facebook page. For more information regarding the UTV raffle, see the flyer below contact the Stevens Point Fire Fighters at email@example.com.
Local 484 will have the opportunity to host the 84th PFFW State Convention in 2022 at the Stevens Point Holiday Inn and Convention Center, showcasing local attractions, raising money for our Charitable Foundation, and supporting many local restaurants and businesses.
