Monday, October 12, Skyward presented a check to the Stevens Point Police Department in the amount of $10,000 to support their K9 training program to cover K9 training expenses such as the Vohne Liche Nine Week Trainers Dual Purpose Police Dog Course.
The Vohne Liche course combines all phases of Detector and Patrol Dog Training, giving the instructor the opportunity to completely train several “green” dogs and handlers through all phases of Police Service Dog Training. Successful completion of this course will give SPPD Sgt. JD Ballew qualifications to recertify other Stevens Point police department dogs and those agencies in and near their jurisdiction annually.
In attendance Monday were Mayor Mike Wiza, Ray Ackerlund, president of Skyward, and members of the Stevens Point Police Department including K9 Barry and his handler Sgt. JD Ballew.
