Mayor Wiza Appointed to League of Wisconsin Municipalities Board

Stevens Point Mayor Mike Wiza was appointed to the League of Wisconsin Municipalities Board of Directors, bringing his experience in local government to the statewide governing body. The League has more than 600 members - large & small cities & villages.

“I am honored to have been appointed to the board. The League provides invaluable resources to communities throughout Wisconsin and I’ve been privileged to work with them and my peers to navigate through the waters of local government,” said Wiza. 

In 2021-2022 the League’s 16-member Board will be working to set the strategic direction for the League at a critical time in the organization’s history. Cities and villages are facing challenging circumstances not only due to the pandemic, but Wisconsin municipalities also face a dire need to update aging infrastructure and provide vital services, including police and fire services, to their residents.

Wiza is in his second term as Mayor in Stevens Point. Each of those years have seen above average growth with emphasis on sustainability and creativity. Wiza has served on the League’s Urban Alliance since 2015 and is also a member of the Green Tier Legacy Communities. Quality of life initiatives have been a driving force in Stevens Point and they were recently voted 2021’s Best Small Cities in America.
